Who we are


The origins of the Net Zero Europe initiative go back a long way.  Alfred Dietrich Steiof, its founder, was a business graduate involved in the construction and project financing of energy upstream facilities from exploration to power generation worldwide. Global energy demand was rising rapidly, and with it the fundamental concern about fossil fuel energy supply. The finite nature of fossil fuels and the climate change caused by their combustion pointed to the need to develop other solutions. It was no coincidence that the Rio Conference took place at this time, declaring climate protection to be the most important concern for the first time.



 



After working in industry and banking for many years, Alfred turned his innovative ideas into reality by founding an energy company that quickly became a major wholesaler and distributor of renewable energy solutions for many well-known customers.


After that, and with his next startup, he dedicated himself to the development of industrial-scale solar systems and became more and more passionate about new tech solutions like blockchain and distributed ledger, where he helped teams develop applications.


From there, it was not far to the question of why these technologies are not better used to fight climate change and what the reasons are.
